The Longest Day - Paid Internship
Job Description
The Longest Day intern will support the Home Office of the Alzheimer’s Association to grow one of our signature fundraising campaigns. The Longest Day® is the day with the most light - the summer solstice. The Longest Day participants fight the darkness of Alzheimer's and all other dementia through a fundraising activity of their choice on a day that works for them. With sports tournaments, card games, parties, baking and more, participants raise funds to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in fundraising, development strategies, and field operations from a national scope. You will develop valuable skills in communication, project management, and donor relations with the opportunity to network with professionals in the nonprofit sector.
Responsibilities
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Create PowerPoint presentations for internal staff training and externally for volunteer onboarding and coaching fundraisers by interviewing successful staff and volunteers for content.
- Reporting and data analysis. Create excel and google spreadsheet to track fundraising data for the field.
- Research activity based companies and organizations based on the top fundraising activities, such as hiking clubs and associations, sporting good stores, pickleball, golf, and more. Build a prospect list for field activation.
- Support local chapters with staff vacancies to make recruitment calls to past fundraisers, coach registered participants, and make thank you calls.
- Be the point of contact for participants registered outside of the United States to provide excellent customer service and coaching advice.
- Be the point person to recruit and coach live streamers and gamers. Edit tools, cold outreach and coaching to content creators. Manage platforms to build relationships with this audience including TikTok, discord, twitch, tiltify and YouTube. Represent the Alzheimer's Association and network at industry events. (if you are not in the streaming community another activity based group can be assigned)

Qualifications
- Enrollment in a 2 or 4-year degree program with an internship requirement or need.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong Communication Skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities to effectively engage with staff, volunteers, fundraisers, and the general community
- Data Management. Proficiency in using spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets) for tracking data. Ability to create formulas, pivot tables, v lookup, etc.
- Research Proficiency. Ability to conduct thorough research to identify fundraising prospects, sponsorship opportunities, and partners with organizations and associations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint: Ability to create engaging and visually appealing presentations using PowerPoint. Experience with advanced features such as animations, transitions, and multimedia integration.
- Content Development: Capability to organize and distill complex information into clear, concise slides that effectively convey key messages. Experience in collaborating with subject matter experts to gather information and insights for presentations.
- Organizational Skills. Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines efficiently.
- Attention to Detail. Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in spreadsheets, PowerPoints, communications, and fundraising materials.
- Social Media Savvy. Familiarity with social media platforms to help promote fundraising initiatives and engage with potential fundraisers.
- Innovative thinking to develop engaging fundraising campaigns and promotional materials.
- Problem-Solving Skills. Ability to think critically and address challenges creatively in fundraising efforts and event planning.
- Passion for Nonprofit Work. Genuine interest in and commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
- Basic Marketing Knowledge. Understanding of marketing principles, especially as they relate to fundraising.

Position Location: Remote, US (Estimated Hourly Range $17-$20 per hour)
Part time based on 20-25 hours per week
