Job Description

Position Summary:

As Senior Director of Relationship Events, you join an incredible organization that executes the country’s most exclusive, entertaining and mission focused relationship events.

Utilizing your proven leadership, managerial, networking and relationship building skills to lead and coach a staff and cultivate key community connections, you will drive success and achieve your team’s awareness raising and revenue goals.  You will also lead your team in strategically identifying and engaging community and corporate leaders while building and empowering sustainable volunteer committees to execute the Associations Gala relationship events.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for budgeted outcomes of all Gala Events
  • Responsible for daily management of the five direct reports that will be geographically distributed
  • Responsible for ongoing training and support of the team in order to keep pace with the objectives and outcomes required of relationship events within the Alzheimer’s Association, Strategic Plan
  • Responsible for coaching staff on achieving high level volunteer recruitment, training, coaching, and management resulting in the attainment of revenue goals
  • Responsible for coaching staff to build relationships with key volunteers, participants, sponsors and community leaders as well as existing and new corporate partners
  • Responsible for coaching staff towards Gala volunteer committee development, team recruitment and retention strategies, budgeting practices, timeline building, marketing/PR, logistics and best practice implementation
  • Responsible for coaching staff to prospect, cultivate and steward Gala volunteer teams, sponsors and participants to achieve development goals
  • Responsible for Staff plan execution for maximizing participation to achieve revenue goals by retaining existing donors and participants, attracting new ones from all sectors of the community and by providing fundraising guidance and support
  • Responsible for holding staff accountable for maintaining year-round relationships with key corporate sponsors and constituents to ensure involvement in all relevant chapter activities and recognition opportunities
  • Responsible for guiding staff to work with their volunteer planning committees to organize outreach activities that promote the Alzheimer’s Association mission, including community presentations and corporate engagement opportunities
  • Responsible for cultivating donors to give beyond these events and assist with major gift development
  • Develop and enhance the relationship model to have the best outcomes and/or redesign this product for the future support of the Georgia Chapter
  • Responsible for accurate and timely reporting on the progress of Relationship Events to the Georgia Leadership Team and Board as well as the Alzheimer’s Association National Office
  • Ensure Alzheimer Association’s standards are being followed
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
  • Actively participate in learning opportunities for professional growth and self- improvement

  • You have proven success at building sustainable corporate and community relationships that contribute to achieving event revenue goals, greater community participation and heightened brand awareness
  • You have successfully recruited, managed, and coached both staff and volunteers to effectively implement best and proven practices to achieve fundraising goals OR you are able to effectively assimilate our custom training on peer to peer fundraising and leverage your sales/relationship development background to recruit, manage and coach volunteers to implement best and proven practices to achieve fundraising goals
  • You have managed or are capable of managing relationship events that have resulted in revenue growth year over year
  • You are known as a convener and have successfully built a positive, healthy, and inclusive team environment that has resulted in long term staff and community relationships
  • You love a challenge and have achieved or surpassed designated revenue and participant goals through team and individual fundraising, corporate solicitation, and community partnerships
  • You have demonstrated success at prospecting, cultivating and stewarding event sponsors and participants
  • You have excellent communication and organization skills and are comfortable with building and managing event budgets, training staff and volunteers, working to set timelines and milestones and using data to affect positive outcomes

What you Bring:

  •  Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years non-profit event management experience, and four years of staff supervision experience a minimum
  •  Demonstrated success in managing large-scale community events
  •  Demonstrated success in direct staff supervision and matrix management
  •  Strong and proven verbal and written communication skills
  •  Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others
  •  Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task
  •  Proven experience with Blackbaud/Convio fundraising system and Financial giving software such as GiveSmart or OneCause
  •  Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office products
  •  Confident, goal-oriented, positive self-starter, able to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively with internal and external partners
  •  Demonstrated ability to develop and nurture corporate relationships and partnerships
  •  Ability to manage large numbers of volunteers at different levels of expertise with diplomacy
  •  Ability to engage and work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion, coupled with the ability to work in a highly matrixed organization
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication and follow through
  •  Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% within the assigned territory by car. Travel in this case, is considered time spent away from the office, in the community, to fulfill the job goals.  While most such travel is same day, occasional overnight travel or air travel may be required Must have valid driver’s license, access to reliable vehicle, good driving record and proof of automobile insurance
  •  Ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends as required for committee meetings and wraparound events
  •  Ability to bend, stoop, lift and transport up to 25 lbs. of materials
  •  Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office products and social media; experience with, or ability to rapidly learn Luminate/Convio software
