The Program Manager is responsible for developing, managing and implementing a community engagement strategy for the Alzheimer’s Association within defined markets of opportunity. Engagement will include but is not limited to relationship building strategy, outreach, and associated program coordination and delivery. The successful candidate will be an ambassador for the organization at the same time that s/he has a solid hand on the operational work.
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Build relationships with community providers to ensure appropriate referrals from community agencies on aging, departments of health, and other non-profit service providers.
- Engage, train and manage relationships with related health care and social service providers in the Central New York area with emphasis on minority, high-risk, and underserved populations.
- Plans and delivers Community Forums and needs assessments across the fourteen-county region to assess/identify needs, service gaps, and potential solutions.
- Provides supervision and guidance to volunteers and support staff in conducting activities related to community engagement and chapter outreach initiatives.
- Deliver outreach/education presentations in-person and virtually to community stakeholders including but not limited to medical providers, pharmacists, first responders, faith-based organizations, non-profits and government agencies to ensure that the community-at-large understands Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, the importance of early diagnosis, and the benefits of utilizing Alzheimer's Association services.
- Work intensively with the development department to create and support a cultivation plan for constituents and companies, providing education and awareness around Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer’s Association services.
- Proactively and collaboratively work with chapter staff to support the Alzheimer’s Association’s vision, mission, core values and strategic goals and promote Association programs such as The Longest Day, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, TrialMatch, Advocacy, and other special events.
- Assists program team with delivery and coordination of information, referral, and care consultation services in-person, virtually, and via telephone.
- Represent and assist the Association at public events, conferences, workshops and media and advocacy events.
- Keep informed of current disease information, current initiatives of the chapter and national office via online technology, journals and other sources provided.
- Assure compliance with all Association policies, procedures, Standards and applicable regulatory and grant requirements; promote Association-wide programs and other initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree required in human services, gerontology, social work or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- One to three years of leadership experience in program administration including needs assessment, program development, delivery, management and evaluation.
- Minimum 3 years in health/human service related field.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, assess community strength and engage community leaders.
- Demonstrated success building strong community partnerships and increasing services to communities that have had low participation.
- Demonstrated success working with diverse populations, volunteers, staff, and external contacts to build and maintain successful teams.
- Familiarity with Alzheimer’s and related dementias, and/or aging and health issues, preferred.
- Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred.

- Goal-oriented, motivated to achieve all key performance indicators (KPI’s)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to carry up to 25lbs of equipment and supplies.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to travel by car throughout the fourteen-county region of Central New York with occasional out-of-area travel.
