Job Description

This position is responsible for implementing the chapter’s volunteer-powered program delivery strategy, engaging with organizations to encourage community mobilization and supporting the chapter’s health systems initiatives. This community-facing role will focus on diverse and underserved communities, and will require some travel throughout the area in addition to occasional evening and weekend work.


Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

     Community Programs

  • Increase reach of Alzheimer’s Association Common Programs with special emphasis on increasing participation among diverse and underserved communities.
  • Expand the number of trained, active program volunteers.
  • Lead advisory committees or workgroups as identified from diverse and underserved communities.
  • Conduct in-person engagement through Community Forum and other program events in diverse and underserved communities.


Community Partnerships

  • Develop new, sustainable strategic community partnerships, with an emphasis on diverse and underserved communities in an effort to increase the reach of the Association.


Health Systems

  • Support the implementation of the chapter’s health systems strategy


Core Characteristics and Competencies

  • Demonstrated success working on a team to identify, create and launch strategic community partnerships.
  • Experience working with diverse volunteers, staff, and external contacts.
  • Ability to take tasks from concept through execution with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills in person, print, and electronically.
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions.



  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college; significant work experience may be considered as a substitute for the degree.
  • At least 2 years’ experience working with diverse communities, building relationships and advancing program delivery and project development preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to drive to communities within the Chapter territory
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain clients records in a confidential and timely manner
  • Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends
  • Proficient in technology including social media
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
