This position reporting directly to the Senior Development Director and is responsible for the oversight of the (3) three Walk to End Alzheimer’s® events in the following counties: Ottawa, Mason, Muskegon. This position will lead community volunteers to meet or exceed goals through volunteer recruitment and engagement as well as through corporate development. Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the fastest-growing walk program in the country, ranking as the second-largest peer-to-peer fundraising event in the United States. Measurable outcomes for this position include: achieving designated financial and participant goals through team and individual fundraising, corporate solicitation, community partnerships, as well as increasing Walk-brand awareness and visibility in the community. This position will be based in either Muskegon or Holland with a combination of office and remote work. This position requires frequent travel within the assigned territory.
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Build relationships with key volunteers, participants, sponsors and community leaders as well as existing and new corporate partners.
- Responsible for overall Walk to End Alzheimer’s volunteer committee development, team recruitment and retention strategies, budget, timeline, marketing/PR, logistics and best practice implementation for each of the (3) three Walk To End Alzheimer’s in the following counties – Ottawa, Mason, and Muskegon.
- Through volunteer networks, prospecting, cultivating and stewarding Walk to End Alzheimer’s teams, sponsors and walkers to achieve development goal totaling $175,000.
- Execute plan for maximizing team participation to achieve revenue goals by retaining existing teams, attracting new ones from all sectors of the community and by providing fundraising guidance and support.
- Maintain year-round relationships with key corporate sponsors and constituents to ensure involvement in all relevant chapter activities and recognition opportunities.
- Work with the volunteer planning committee to organize outreach activities that promote the Alzheimer’s Association mission, including community presentations and corporate engagement opportunities.
- Ensure Walk to End Alzheimer’s standards are being followed.
- Works with regional communication team to ensures inclusion of Walk information and events within Chapter promotional/communications channels including email, social media, e-News, public relations and local marketing.
- Responsible for other duties as assigned.
- Actively participate in learning opportunities for professional growth and self- improvement.
- Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 2-3 years progressive, professional fund development and volunteer management experience required. 4-5 years of experience preferred
- Peer-to-peer fundraising experience or equivalent sales background preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven results in fundraising through partnerships, using skills in community organization, relationship building, talent identification and leadership development
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated success in the development and promotion of fundraising events or similar, while working with others to accomplish goals
- Demonstrated success in the development and implementation Walk/run/bike events preferred
- Demonstrated ability in handling multiple priorities, project management and meeting deadlines with strong planning and organizational skills
- Ability to manage large numbers of volunteers at different levels of expertise with diplomacy
- Demonstrated expertise recruiting and managing volunteers preferred
- Demonstrated ability to form and develop corporate relationships and partnerships programs
- Ability to work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for the job
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift, and transport up to 25lbs of materials
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 65% within the assigned territory. Travel in this case, is considered time spent away from the office, in the community, to fulfill the job goals. While most travel is same-day, occasional overnight and/or air travel may be required
- Must possess valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance
