Job Title:  Manager, The Longest Day - Greater Missouri Chapter

Location:  Greater Missouri Chapter, St. Louis Office

Work Hours:  Full-time (based on a 37.5 hour work week)

Grade:  105

Reports To:  Walk Director

Position Summary:

This position will manage development and execution of local Longest Day recruitment and retention efforts and be held accountable for the achievement of revenue performance targets through the effective leadership, engagement, empowerment, and mobilization of a volunteer TLD Committee.

Responsibilities:

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to work under stress and successfully handle several projects at once
  • Engaging, training and managing relationships with community-based leadership volunteers (either chapter wide or regionally based) to develop and execute a local recruitment, cultivation and retention plan for new and veteran Longest Day teams
  • Effectively and efficiently completing activities and meeting target deadlines for successful event execution
  • Ensuring on-going mission education for volunteer TLD committee members
  • Implementing best practices for leadership development, increased participation and event revenue growth; driving and encouraging creativity and innovation at the community/chapter level
  • Developing and demonstrating skills in community organization, relationship building, talent identification and leadership development
  • Collaborating with other key departments to ensure cross promotion, and support of, organizational goals and/or messages
  • Monitoring activities to identify trends and best practices; measuring impact of specific actions; identifying and addressing challenges as they arise, and adjusting plans as required
  • Utilizing available resources to maximize event results and participating in webinars, conference calls and/or trainings offered by the Alzheimer’s Association for The Longest Day
  • Ensuring inclusion of The Longest Day within Chapter promotional/communications channels including email, social media, e-News; public relations and local marketing efforts
  • Ensuring compliance with Alzheimer’s Association policies and procedures

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in recruiting and mobilizing volunteers to achieve goals
  • Preferred peer-to-peer fundraising experience or equivalent sales background

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Confident, goal-oriented, positive self-starter able to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively with internal and external partners
  • Demonstrated ability to form and develop corporate relationships and partnerships
  • Ability to manage large numbers of volunteers at different levels of expertise with diplomacy
  • Ability to work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% within the assigned territory by car.  Travel in this case, is considered time spent away from the office, in the community, to fulfill the job goals. 
  • While most such travel is same day, occasional overnight travel or air travel may be required. Must have valid driver’s license, access to reliable vehicle, good driving record and proof of automobile insurance.
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required for the job
  • Ability to bend, stoop, lift and transport up to 25 lbs of materials
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office products and social media; experience with, or ability to rapidly learn, Luminate/Convio software
  • Ability to work under stress and successfully handle several projects at once
