Job Title: Greater Missouri Chapter Winter-Spring Communications Intern 

Location: Preference for St. Louis; would consider Columbia and Springfield MO (TBD on remote vs in-person) 

Part time: 15-20 hours per week 

Salary: Unpaid 

Reports To: Communications Manager

Position Summary:

The Greater Missouri Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association is seeking a strong writer, with a creative streak, to generate content for use in media outreach and social media posts. This is an unpaid, part-time position (15- 20 hours per week, with flexibility in schedule) and would be based, preferably in our St. Louis office. However, we will consider strong candidates from the Columbia and Springfield areas as well. The desired start date for the internship is early February; desired end date is mid-May. 


Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop compelling content about chapter client families, volunteers, and Association programs and services 
  • Conduct interviews with caregivers and volunteers and write media pitches and/or 300-500 word stories for submission to local papers
  • Develop creative posts/tweets for use on chapter’s social platforms 
  • Assist with media outreach – sending news releases, pitching, follow-up, etc. 
  • Participate and contribute in team brainstorm sessions 


  • Strong writer with ability to produce clean, concise, and creative copy
  • Experience with developing content for media pitches, news stories and/or social media posts
  • Basic interview skills  
  • Strong project management skills 
  • Self-starter
  • Creative, out-of-the-box thinker  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications 
  • Drivers license 
  • Ability to work remote (if need be, depending on COVID guidelines)
