Reporting to the Manager of Diversity Outreach, this full-time Coordinator is responsible for the creation and coordination the Faith Based Outreach Initiative Program. The Coordinator will oversee the development of a Faith Based Outreach Program for the Chapter, with a particular focus on diverse communities. They will work collaboratively to integrate the program in to the Community Engagement team, and will create a strategy for implementation, and a plan to rely on volunteers to deliver programs and services. There will be a specific focus on recruiting diverse volunteers to support the work. In addition, this person works closely with the Faith Based outreach volunteers Occasional evening and weekend work required, as well as an ability to travel throughout the two-state Chapter. This position is a federal grant-funded two year position.
Core Job Responsibilities
· Create and implement a Faith Based Outreach Initiative to increase awareness and offer supportive programs to families concerned about their memory and those living with dementia in their faith community by:
o Developing a strategy and implementation plan to grow relationships in faith organizations across MA/NH
o Coordinating outreach to faith organizations across MA/NH while developing relationships volunteers and partnerships with these organizations
o Developing culturally appropriate outreach materials
o Convening an Advisory group to help inform the work
o Managing reporting data for grants
o Working collaboratively with Dementia Friendly MA, Volunteer team and Community Engagement team.
· Conduct community assessments in faith communities with the goal of identifying the needs for Alzheimer’s and dementia programs and services.
· Recruit, and support Faith Outreach volunteers and partnering organizations in diverse communities, by:
o Working collaboratively with Diversity Outreach team to find Volunteers in culturally diverse areas
o Assisting with identifying the needs and development of culturally appropriate written materials
· Raise Faith communities awareness about Alzheimer’s and related dementias, including:
o Attending grassroots Community initiatives, health fairs, networking meetings and Alzheimer’s Partnerships
o Ensuring that the Faith Based Organizations have a firm understanding of the Alzheimer’s Association mission and key messaging to promote Programs and Services in local communities
· Collaborate with Association departments, such as advocacy and development to identify cross-pollination opportunities for all volunteers who support the Association’s mission pillars, in particular, Walk to End Alzheimer’s
Key Educational/Professional Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred or equivalent work experience in human services, gerontology, social work, theology, community engagement or a related field
· Three years’ experience in Volunteer programs, community outreach and education, working with people with Alzheimer’s and their family care partners, or faith based outreach preferred. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, religious and socioeconomic background
· One year’s demonstrated computer literacy: windows environment, the Internet with email and web-based communication
· Demonstrated success managing volunteer-led programs, with experience in recruitment, training, engagement, supervision and evaluation of volunteers
· Bilingual Spanish and English preferred
