Position Summary:

The Executive Director (ED), New Mexico Chapter, will have overall strategic, leadership, collaboration and operational responsibility for the chapter’s fundraising, programs, growth, and delivery of the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission. The ED is an essential partner in the Association’s strategic plan to support millions of people living with the disease and their families while accelerating research progress and changing the trajectory of Alzheimer’s disease. They also take the lead on building a strong, community-based Board of Volunteer Leaders to partner with all staff in the New Mexico area for a full range of mission impact.

The ED will build strong working relationships with all of the Association’s administrative and functional leaders and will report to the Regional Leader. This leadership position receives a foundation of support from the Home Office located in Chicago, IL and the Public Policy team in Washington, D.C.

This position is located at the New Mexico Chapter office in Albuquerque, NM with frequent travel throughout the chapter territory.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

* Serves as the Senior Executive Leader for the Alzheimer’s Association in the New Mexico Chapter.
* Develops and maintains a high-impact board of community leaders to have an outward interface with the corporate, social, philanthropic and medical communities within Chapter territory. Leads the Board in contributing to efforts to impact fundraising, program delivery, securing of major and planned gifts, and raising the overall profile and brand visibility of the Alzheimer’s Association in the community.
* Oversees the work of the Chapter’s program staff to ensure ongoing local programming excellence, conducts program evaluation and needs analysis to maintain superior delivery. Identifies and fosters collaborative partnerships to augment mission delivery. Also oversees programs grants and contracts from community organizations, ensuring their pursuit to meet goals and objectives of said grants and contracts.
* Oversees the work of the Chapter's public policy staff and builds relationships with local, state and federal government. Serves as a catalyst for the Chapter's for Advocacy and Public Policy pursuits, builds relationships with existing Ambassadors, and leads recruitment efforts for future volunteers.
* Collaborates with neighboring chapters and other non-profit organizations to ensure city, state and federal Public Policy initiatives benefit our constituents.
* Contributes to the success of Walk to End Alzheimer’s events and The Longest Day in the area, identifying specific fundraising goals that will add value to and expand events. Leads revenue opportunities personally in other areas, such as Intermediate Gifts, corporate relationship development, partners on major gifts and planned gifts prospect identification, and significantly contributes to the success of the Chapter's Gala event in Albuquerque.
* Serves as the Chapter lead for corporate relationships and development; builds solid relationships with corporate partners and community organizations.
* Directly supervises the Chapter's management team and leaders in the four field offices (Farmington, Las Cruces, Roswell & Santa Fe).
* Leads volunteer recruitment to ensure appropriate resources are in place to achieve the chapter’s goals and objectives.
* Works with the Home Office Relationship Development & Strategic Giving experts to enhance major giving opportunities.
* Creates and manages chapter budget, maintains financial records, and oversees daily office functions.
* Serves as the primary spokesperson for the chapter territory.
* Oversees day-to-day operations of the Albuquerque office, and serves as the collaborative leader for this office and operation.
* Partners with other EDs in Regions 1 4 on leadership of initiatives as opportunities arise

 

 

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
* At least 10 years’ progressive senior, non-profit management experience; VHA experience preferred
* Minimum 5 years of mass-market special event fundraising experience; additional fundraising experience preferred
* Community mobilization and/or volunteer recruitment and management experience preferred
* Proven record of effectively and positively leading a regional or national non-profit organization and staff
* Commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation; experience interpreting data analytics, monitoring results, taking corrective actions, and creating productivity enhancements
* Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget
* Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
* Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills; experience as a community spokesperson a plus
* Excellent computer skills and analytical savvy to build, review, and analyze data; familiarity with Google products, Microsoft Office
* Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to planning
* Proven ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse groups of people
* Detail oriented, adaptable, organized and able to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks
* Ability and willingness to travel across chapter territory, to regional offices and Home Office and national events, as required (overnight travel will be approximately 20%)
* Must possess valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance
