Job Description

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Donor Strategy & Relationship Events, the Development Specialist plays a supportive role to the Development team to assist in achieving revenue goals for the Illinois Chapter. The Development Specialist works closely with all Managers (with a focus on all activities other than our statewide Walks program) to provide exceptional service internally with our staff and volunteers, and externally with our Board, volunteers, event attendees, donors & prospects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
?Work with/support Development Managers with all facets of fundraising activities/events
?Support 3rd party events & manage tracking for events
?Support TLD efforts including team recruitment, retention, tracking & event support
?Organize outreach activities that promote the Alzheimer’s Association mission, including community presentations and corporate engagement opportunities (e.g., cause related marketing meetings)
?Represent Chapter at public events where there is recruitment and fundraising potential
?Coordinate & manage volunteer & intern process
?Coordinate and manage in-kind donations for various Development needs including challenges, event needs, auctions & raffles
?Create and implement a best practices vendor strategy
?Work in conjunction with the Sr. Manager, Donor Strategy & Relationship Events on implementing a Donor Strategy best practices process
?Work in conjunction with Communications on creating best practice strategies that will help streamline events (calendars, image database, etc)
?Organize Team communications including mass mailings (e.g, holiday cards)
?Support Development Team on reporting needs, trainings, meetings, etc
?Manage inventory of promotional items to be used for all Development team
?Manage invoicing process for Development team
?Responsible for other duties as assigned

Minimum requirements:
?Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
?1-2 years of proven experience in recruiting and mobilizing volunteers to achieve goals preferred
?1-2 years of proven experience in event planning or event management
?Peer-to-peer fundraising experience or equivalent sales background preferred
?Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
?Ability to communicate in person, by phone and electronically with internal and external constituents
?Detail-oriented, efficient and ability to multitask
?Confident, goal-oriented, positive self-starter able to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively with internal and external partners
?Ability to work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion
?Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written
?Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% within the assigned territory by car. Travel in this case, is considered time spent away from the office, in the community, to fulfill the job goals
?While most such travel is same day, occasional overnight travel or air travel may be required. Must have valid driver’s license, access to reliable vehicle, good driving record and proof of automobile insurance
?Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required for the job, including most weekends in September and October
?Ability to bend, stoop, lift and transport up to 50 lbs. of materials
?Strong computer skills are a must, proficient with Microsoft Office products and social media; experience with, or ability to rapidly learn, Luminate/Convio software
?Ability to approach a project with creative and original thinking
