Position Summary:

This Manager position is responsible for the oversight of the (2) two Walk to End Alzheimer’s® events and The Longest Day teams in the following (3) Counties: Lake County, Geauga County and Ashtabula County. This position will lead community volunteers to meet or exceed goals through volunteer recruitment and engagement as well as through corporate development through in either Walk to End Alzheimer’s and/or the Longest Day.  Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the fastest-growing walk program in the country, ranking as the second-largest peer-to-peer fundraising event in the United States and The Longest Day program, the Chapter’s second largest mass market signature event.  

Measurable outcomes for this position include: achieving designated financial and participant goals through team and individual fundraising, on-going new leads generation, recruitment, and cultivation, volunteer recruitment for committee leadership roles, and year-round communication, coaching, and stewardship of volunteers and Team Captains, corporate solicitation, community partnerships with a focus on educational programs.  This position will be based remotely on the eastside of Cleveland, ideally - Lake County, Geauga County or Ashtabula County in Ohio. This position requires frequent travel within the assigned territory and to the chapter office in Beachwood, OH.  

Responsibilities

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the Chapter’s revenue and expense goals related to (2) Walk To End Alzheimer’s (WTEA) and The Longest Day (TLD).  Total Revenue goal is $200,000 in the following Ohio counties: Lake, Ashtabula and Geauga. 
  • Responsible for overall Walk to End Alzheimer’s volunteer committee development.  Develop and execute WTEA and TLD plans that include:   team recruitment and retention strategies, prospecting, new leads growth, budget, timeline, marketing/PR, logistics and best practice implementation
  • Build relationships with key volunteers, participants, sponsors and community leaders as well as existing and new corporate and community partners in the following Ohio counties: Lake, Ashtabula and Geauga.
  • Execute plan for maximizing team participation to achieve revenue goals by retaining existing teams, attracting new ones from all sectors of the community and by providing fundraising guidance and support.
  • Maintain year-round relationships with key corporate sponsors and constituents to ensure involvement in all relevant chapter activities and recognition opportunities.
  • Work with the volunteer planning committee to organize outreach activities that promote the Alzheimer’s Association mission, including community presentations and corporate engagement opportunities.
  • Ensure Walk to End Alzheimer and The Longest Day standards are being followed.
  • Works with regional communication team to ensures inclusion of WTEA and/or TLD information and events within Chapter promotional/communications channels including email, social media, e-News, public relations and local marketing. 
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned.
  • Actively participate in learning opportunities for professional growth and self- improvement.

Qualifications   

  • Associate’s degree required.   Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2-3 years of progressive, professional fund development and volunteer management experience required.   4-5 years of experience preferred.
  • Peer-to-peer fundraising experience or equivalent sales background preferred 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

  • Develops and demonstrates proven results in fundraising through partnerships, using skills in community organization, relationship building, talent identification and leadership development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated success in the development and promotion of fundraising events or similar, while working with others to accomplish goals.
  • Demonstrated success in the development and implementation Walk/run/bike events preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in handling multiple priorities, project management and meeting deadlines with strong planning and organizational skills.     
  • Ability to manage large numbers of volunteers at different levels of expertise with diplomacy. 
  • Demonstrated expertise recruiting and managing volunteers preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to form and develop corporate relationships and partnerships programs.
  • Ability to work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for the job. 
  • Ability to bend, stoop, lift, and transport up to 25lbs of materials. 
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 65% within the assigned territory.   Travel in this case, is considered time spent away from the office, in the community, to fulfill the job goals. While most travel is same-day, occasional overnight and/or air travel may be required.
