The Development Director position is a full-time position, located in Fort Worth, Texas, and reports to the Chapter Executive Director.

This is a leadership position responsible for the implementation of the strategic plan to maintain and grow a revenue portfolio of $3mm in the North Central Texas Chapter, which includes offices in Fort Worth, Abilene, Waco and Wichita Falls. Duties include overseeing fundraising efforts, building strong and successful relationships, maintaining communications with donors and patrons and managing development staff. The position involves significant team work and collaborative efforts with Chapter Leadership, staff, volunteers, organizations, foundations, corporations, and private donors.
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and execute fund development strategies in keeping with the Chapter’s Strategic Plan.
- Lead a development team of four and help them achieve individual fundraising goals.
- Serve as a member of the Chapter’s Leadership Team, participating in the development of organizational plans and coordinating with other members in specific functional areas.
- Provide leadership in fundraising activities, including Walk to End Alzheimer’s, The Longest Day, Gala and other events. Supervise and/or support development staff throughout the chapter.
- Work with the Executive Director, Chapter Leadership Team and Chapter Board, to position the Chapter and its programs to maximize fund development opportunities.
- Cultivate and develop relationships with existing and potential volunteer leaders, donors, including individuals, organizations, and corporations. Oversee the development and updating of a comprehensive donor database.
- Provide leadership in developing and maintaining corporate relations. Direct, implement, and monitor foundation, submission of proposals and applications, and follow-up on reporting.
- Oversee Chapter marketing and communication, relative to fundraising events in collateral, event websites, and community outreach.
- Assist the Executive Director in providing support and staff leadership in fund development to the Chapter Board and related committees. Support Regional Directors to identify and engage prospective volunteer leaders, donors and corporations. Maintain an organizational, inclusive environment that attracts, motivates, supports, and retains diverse, collaborative, high quality professional employees and volunteers who are committed to fund development.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- CFRE or ACFRE certification preferred
- 5 years of fundraising leadership and management experience
- Progressively responsible work history in diversified fund development programs including donor relations, mass market and special events, and corporate initiatives. Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to write concise plans and reports and provide oral presentations.
- Ability to work with diverse and underserved communities and demonstrate inclusion.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% within the assigned territory by car. Travel in this case is considered time spent away from the office, in the community, to fulfill job goals.
- While most such travel is the same day, occasional overnight travel or air travel may be required. Must have a valid drivers license, access to a reliable vehicle, good driving record and proof of automobile insurance.
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift and transport up to 25lbs of materials
- Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office products, Google Apps, and social media; experience with, or ability to rapidly learn Luminate/Convio software or other fundraising databases
