Communications Manager
Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, the Communications Manager will serve as the regional marketing expert, setting strategy, developing and implementing all digital, social, and email marketing needs across the service area.
This position is part of a larger regional strategic communications team and a nationwide effort.
Responsibilities
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with the Communications team to develop, execute and evaluate regional and community marketing communications initiatives that complement the Alzheimer’s Association national strategic plan.
- Promote strategic initiatives across marketing communications, including responsibilities such as:
- Actively work to ensure effective integration of communications with Chapter and National priorities
- Generate, maintain and schedule engaging social media content to promote the Chapter’s activities and initiatives such as Walk to End Alzheimer’s, The Longest Day and our many programs and services.
- Become an extension of the company’s brand to connect with existing constituents, and acquire new ones
- Stay up to date with new and emerging trends to help keep the Association’s social media presence consistently relevant
- Create and send mass emails through our email marketing database to promote Association initiatives
- Maintain local content for Alzheimer’s Association website
- Respond to the communications needs of each department to maintain Chapter-wide continuity
- Assure compliance with all Alzheimer’s Association branding policies, procedures, standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Assist the Senior Director of Communications and Marketing as needed
- Responsible for other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in journalism, communications, or a related degree.
- 3-5 years of communications experience, preferably in social and digital media.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written, verbal and electronic communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of social, earned, and paid communication
- Successful at building relationships and interviewing individuals in sometimes sensitive situations to develop content, social media, and spokesperson opportunities.
- Experience with video creation and production a plus.
- Paid social media experience preferred.
- Understanding of the importance of consistent branding and messaging within a mission-based organization.
- Superior written and verbal skills.
- Creative thinking to ensure fresh approaches to annual and evergreen opportunities.
- Proven work experience as a social media manager
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers and external contacts to build and maintain effective teams in-person and virtually
