Job Description

 

Guided by the strategic plans of the Chapter, the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) provides leadership, management and vision across the Chapter necessary to ensure that programs and advocacy components are coordinated and implemented to effectively grow the organization, and ensure financial strength.

Possessing technical and interpersonal skills, the CSO directs the activities of the Minnesota-North Dakota office ensuring resource management and operational efficiencies of the Education and Outreach, Clinical Services, Health Systems, Diversity and Inclusion and Advocacy departments. The CSO is also assigned specific administration responsibilities and management of certain strategic initiatives to assist the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to serve the changing needs of the Chapter.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

 
     
  • Work closely with the CEO to accomplish the goals and objectives of the strategic plan established in cooperation with the Board of Directors 
  •  
  • Act for the CEO in her absence and represent the Chapter in the community as needed 
  •  
  • Advise the CEO on policy, procedural and operational issues 
  •  
  • Build relationships in community with community leaders in all areas of focus to help expand Chapter programming and increase revenue for the Chapter 
  •  
  • Educate companies, corporations and communities about programs and services and work to expand network of companies interested in education and outreach 
  •  
  • Foster connections with hospitals and clinic systems to advance strategic program initiatives and increase revenue 
  •  
  • Work at a high level with government agencies and staff to expand programs offered within the two states and bring together advocacy and program initiatives 
  •  
  • Act as the staff liaison to and facilitate meetings of the Medical & Scientific Advisory Council, cultivating members and advancing ideas from this meeting that fit within strategic plan 
  •  
  • Work with Program Services staff to develop new programming as needed 
  •  
  • Identify grant and major funding opportunities and present to staff to develop 
  •  
  • Travel to regional offices to build relationships with staff and hospital and clinic systems 
  •  
  • Travel to further Alzheimer’s Association public policy efforts, which may include regional offices and Alzheimer’s Association National Forum 
  •  
  • Serve as liaison to National Alzheimer’s Association offices as needed 
  •  
  • Work with CEO to develop budgets for Advocacy and Program Services departments 
  •  
  • Develop leadership capabilities of all Program Services and Advocacy staff 
  •  
  • Work closely with CEO, staff and Board of Directors to identify strategies to address constituent needs. Report progress toward program goals 
  •  
  • Represent the Chapter at public events, conferences, workshops and media opportunities 
  •  
  • Maintain a current knowledge of research and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease 
  •  
  • Provide supervision and leadership to Advocacy and Program Services department staff as assigned 
  •  
  • Participate in development activities across the Chapter to help increase funding for the mission  
  •  
 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

 
     
  • Ten years senior management experience. Strategic planning, program development and implementation as well as redesign, advocacy, or related areas are desired 
  •  
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred; Experience working in the healthcare field 
  •  
  • Experience in strategic planning, budget development and management 
  •  
  • Administrative, supervisory, fiscal management and fundraising experience 
  •  
  • Demonstrated leadership and creativity in organizational development, human resources and community service 
  •  
  • Ability to work successfully with a wide range of organizations and individuals 
  •  
  • Familiarity with the community and its applicable resources, both in the public and private sectors 
  •  
  • Long range strategic planning and visionary ability  
  •  
  • Proven success in building and maintaining key relationships and meeting strategic goals 
  •  
  • Strong organizational and project management skills 
  •  
  • Excellent written and presentation skills; enjoys public speaking 
  •  
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment  
  •
